Bee Hive Removal Santa Barbara

Question: Do swarms consider the view of the surrounding landscape when selecting a new hive location? I know there are other primary needs of the hive, but you have to wonder just a bit if all other things being equal, will bees select the site with a mountain or ocean view?  This removal was done from the 3rd story of a circa 1912 Santa Barbara home with a view of the ocean and a spectacular view of the the SB Mission.  The bees have since been relocated to an avocado orchard in Santa Barbara, I'll wait to see if they file a complaint with the local "Bee Housing Authority!"

The hive was actually very large, contained in the space between the roof and interior ceiling.  While working with a local contractor, we made very strategic cuts to access the hive, but do a minimum amount of damage to the ceiling.

Approx. 30 combs end to end! If only the insulation was added to the last bay
 (exterior wall to left), the bees would not have had room to create such a large hive.

Notice the plastic sheeting used to prevent bees and
other debris from entering the main part of the room.
