Bee Hive Removal Santa Barbara

This was a live bee hive removal in the side of an old out building.  Someone had done a previous hive removal at the same spot.  The old hive was located in the top box area to the right.  There was still old comb and residue left in that area.

Very little new comb was drawn out here.  The bees repopulated the top box to the left and the box below it.  The top, left box was 100% filled with comb.  The box below was 75% filled with mostly newer comb.

This was an interesting removal with regard to the tempermant of the bees.  When I started the project, the first 10 minutes or so I was stung numerous times and the bees defended their hive vigorously.  After the hive was opened up and completely exposed, the bees became much more passive.  I cut out the comb and strung it on TBH bars.  I used a modified bee-vac to capture bees and then finished by scraping the area clean.
